Flickr- Thing 4
Thinking Flickr was much the same as Snapfish, Kodak Gallery and the like, I figured I'd breeze through this one. I have used the others extensively, having created calendars, playing cards and even posters. What I liked about Flickr is the ability to share and then have the reader download large images. We as a department could share our photos with other departments. The presentation of photos is nicer than the others as well.
To use Flickr you have to have a Yahoo account. I had one that I used a long time ago. So I used it (somehow remembered the password) and it welcomed me back. However that Yahoo account was based on a primary account that no longer exists and I couldn't determine how to change it. So I will have to recreate a Yahoo account just to use this service. Still I think will. Small problem, I guess.
The editing tool is valuable for those not having other photo editing tools. I generally edit my photos before uploading and will continue to do so.

RSS Feeds - Thing 3
I had a entry level understanding about RSS feeds; I knew what the RSS stood for, but I was missing a big piece... the aggregator. I like others, kept a list of favorites and went into them daily . So now that I know the information can "come to me", well...whatever will I do with all of my time? Of course this is not reality as one person's blog leads the reader (me) to myriad others. I am lead astray easily.
Years ago, while sitting in a PTA meeting at my children's school, the principal talked about how information would transfer quickly in the years to come. I don't think he could have imagined this particular piece of education, but I have to think even he is amazed.
Using Google Reader as my RSS account, I added a few RSS feed links. I found it easiest to simply click the orange RSS feed button. It makes me think back to that same principal. I'll bet now in grade schools instead of looking for Waldo, they are looking for the RSS icon. I seem to be.
The Palinet tutorial was very helpful in this particular lesson.

Undestanding Library 2.0- Thing 2
Web 2.0 tools make it easy to create content and share it creatively via the Internet. In our business, we employ an extensive intranet, available to our hospital staff. We'll be able to create useful content and vehicles for communication. In his video, Stephen Abram is passionate about such possibilities and I found myself intrigued by his idea of "unintended consequences". I take that to be a good thing.
The key principles of Library 2.0 are not just about access to books and information as we think about libraries. It is about innovation, people, and community building, enabled through the participation in this concept of social computing.

My first post- Thing 1
Upon creating this blog, I discovered that many of the names I would have chosen for a blog, have already been taken. I decided on Digital Pallette as I am rarely without a camera in hand and have been using Adobe Photoshop for just about as long as it's been around. More to come....
